About Us
History
On May 7, 1957, 23 people voted to officially organize the Grandville Baptist Church, and the first Prayer Meeting was held in the old Jenison School on the corner of Baldwin and Cottonwood. Dedication services in the current facilities were conducted on December 10, 1967, and in 1984, the addition to the church was completed.
We rest our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal salvation and accept the entire Scriptures as our sole perfect rule of faith and practice.
Purpose
To glorify God through:
- Worship: Recognizing our Holy and Sovereign God and responding Biblically.
- Discipleship: Training believers in God's Word for spiritual maturity and encouraging faithfulness to our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Fellowship: Caring for the family of God and committing to a local body of believers in a caring community.
- Service: Ministering to others by using our God-given abilities, gifts, and resources.
- Evangelism: Proclaiming the Gospel to unbelievers, locally and worldwide.
- Prayer: Communing with God, both individually and corporately, in an intimate and growing relationship.
Values
- The Word of God: as the sole authority for all our life, practice, and teaching, both individually and as a Church.
- The Worship of God: both collectively and privately, recognizing that the Scriptures, Ordinances (Baptism and Communion), prayer, music, offerings and services all are integral in our worship
- The People of God's Creation: those who are part of the family of God and those that are without Christ, individuals and families, recognizing that each one is made purposefully by God.
- The Church of God: recognizing the Lord has called His people to live together in unity, active in service and practicing fellowship.
- The Great Commission of God: going to the lost and building disciples for Christ, accepting responsibility as Ambassadors for Christ in our community and throughout the world.
- The Heritage of God's Church: acknowledging the example, sacrifice, commitment and vision of God's people who have gone before us, having established a foundation for future ministries.
- The Stewardship of God's Provisions: realizing all we have has come from His gracious hand, and therefore seeking to be wise in all our actions and conducting ourselves with an attitude of thankfulness and excellence.
